Maggie’s Cafe
The BIGGEST BREAKFAST Review!
If you’re looking for a heart-warming spot to enjoy a hearty breakfast, look no further than Maggie’s Cafe in Lewisham. This family-run establishment, which has been a beloved local gem since 1983, offers a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home. Sadly, the cafe recently lost its matriarch, who opened the cafe, but the spirit of family and community still thrives within its walls.
On my recent visit, I ordered the “Mad Breakfast” for £11.95, and I can honestly say it was one of the best breakfast experiences I’ve had. This massive plate comes loaded with over 20 items, served in twos. You’ll find everything from fried eggs and bacon to black pudding, fried onions, hash browns, bubble, beans, tomatoes, and even a fried slice. I opted out of toast and bread to avoid any wastage, but honestly, the meal was so impressive in size and value that I hardly missed it.
As I took my first bite, I was struck by the quality and presentation of the food. The bacon had a delightful smoky flavour, while the black pudding was rich and satisfying. The fried slice? Absolute perfection. However, I must admit that the sausages were a bit of a let-down, falling short of the otherwise high standard set by the other items on my plate. But that didn’t dampen my enthusiasm for the meal. What truly blew me away were the beans and fresh tomatoes. You could taste the difference compared to tinned ones, and the hash browns were perfectly crispy. Each item on the plate was a testament to the care that goes into the cooking here. It’s easy to see why this cafe has such a loyal following; the food is not just plentiful but also packed with flavour.
After indulging in the breakfast, I decided to treat myself to dessert and ordered an apple crumble with custard for £5.25. The portion size was generous, and I found myself pleasantly surprised by its quality. It was the perfect sweet ending to an already satisfying meal.
Throughout my visit, the service was impeccable. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles, making me feel welcomed and appreciated. It’s this kind of environment that makes Maggie’s Cafe a special place to visit. In conclusion, I can confidently give the “Mad Breakfast” a solid 9 out of 10. The value for money is unbeatable, and I highly recommend Maggie’s Cafe for anyone craving a generous, delicious breakfast in a friendly atmosphere. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, you won’t leave disappointed. So, why not give it a try? You’ll likely find yourself coming back for more. Lastly, I truly have no idea how people eat the breakfast to themselves… staggering!
I LOVED it! 9/10
