Rick Stein Sandbanks
Reviewing RICK STEIN'S BREAKFAST!
I recently had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast at Rick Stein’s restaurant in Sandbanks, and it was an experience I can’t wait to share with you. Now, the majority of you that I have watched my reviews will know that I was extremely disappointed by the offering at Stein’s Fish and Chips in Padstow a few months ago, so much so I gave it the worst mark I’ve ever given on the channel up until recently. I was hoping this would be a completely different experience. Fortunately, the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning views of the harbour which I mistakenly referred to as an estuary (upset a few of the locals online) and added a touch of magic to the morning. The restaurant itself is spacious and well-staffed, ensuring that every guest feels attended to and comfortable.
As I settled in, I couldn’t help but feel excited about the menu. After some deliberation, I decided on the Arnold Bennett omelet (£13.50) and the Shakshuka (£10.95). I was drawn to the Arnold Bennett for its promise of flavourful haddock and cheese, while the Shakshuka intrigued me with its vibrant mix of tomatoes, red peppers, and spicy sauce. I also ordered a cup of English breakfast tea, which was priced at £3.75—quite steep for a cup of tea, but I was willing to splurge a little for the occasion.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant was surprisingly quiet, despite the presence of many chefs in the open-plan kitchen, busily preparing meals. I could feel the care and attention that went into every dish. When my breakfast arrived, I was struck by the presentation. The Arnold Bennett omelette was hearty, with a delightful crispy cheese topping that complemented the juicy haddock perfectly. I appreciated the flavours, although I felt it could use a touch of pepper to elevate it further.
The Shakshuka was equally impressive, bursting with spices that made each bite a delightful adventure. I found that the heavy bread provided was essential for soaking up the delicious sauce, adding to the overall experience. While I enjoyed both dishes, I found myself leaning more towards the Arnold Bennett for its satisfying taste and portion size and found the Shakshuka to be a tad too watery.
The entire dining experience was exceptional, from the impeccable service to the breathtaking views. It’s moments like these that remind you of the joy of a well-prepared meal in a beautiful setting. As I savoured the last bites of my breakfast, I reflected on my previous experiences at Rick Stein’s restaurants, which had been a mixed bag. However, this breakfast truly stood out.
With a total cost of £28.20 for breakfast, including the tea, I felt it was reasonable given the premium location and quality. I happily rate this experience a solid 9 out of 10, and I wholeheartedly endorse Rick Stein’s restaurant for anyone looking for a delightful breakfast in a stunning setting. I invite you to experience this for yourself—you won’t be disappointed. After all, what could be better than enjoying a beautiful meal by the sea? I wrapped up my morning feeling content and even considered a swim to fully embrace the lovely day.
I LOVED it! 9/10
