Sheesh
Why Is This RESTAURANT So EXPENSIVE?
The first time I’ve visited the county of Essex since the inception of the channel and I headed to which is no doubt, the most glamorous (and pricy) restaurant in the area.
Sheesh is known for being a big celebrity hot-spot and even such as recently, have opened a new branch in Mayfair. The restaurant itself is interesting. Some would call it tacky, others very stylish. I fit somewhere in the middle of those two adjectives. The menu is eye watering, £49 for a kebab is on the higher end of the scale and as such, didn’t interest me on this occasion. However, they do have a very fairly priced lunch menu at £30.00.
I ordered their Chopped tomato & salad with olives and homemade bread for starter, the Sheesh specialty Kofte which comes with rice and more salad and then finishing off with their homemade doughnuts. The starter was basic but set you up very nicely for the main course which arrived pretty quickly. A bed of salad with a huge kofte kebab that had been cooked over charcoal and delivered the perfect punch, the meat was succulent and the salad was pretty good despite being overwhelmed by the amount of salad delivered to the table. The dessert of homemade doughnuts with maple syrup and pistachio didn’t particularly hit the mark, I found them quite bland with very little flavour, albeit I’ve certainly had worse!
I liked Sheesh. Would I pay the dinner prices for the exact same meal? Probably not. However, I do believe the lunch menu is well worth a go!
Total cost of the meal: £30.00.
Star of the show: The Sheesh speciality Kofte.
Would I recommend? For lunch, yes.
I LOVED it! 8/10
