Nusr-et Steakhouse
Reviewing SALT BAE'S EXPENSIVE NUSR-ET STEAKHOUSE!
Visiting Nusr-Et Steakhouse in Knightsbridge, London, was an experience I had mixed feelings about. Known for its exorbitant prices and the infamous salt-sprinkling show by Salt Bae who has become a worldwide sensation… for good and bad reasons, I felt both excited and nervous as I walked into this lavish restaurant. The restaurant was… pretty empty. I can’t say I’m surprised too much given the pricing!
I took one look at the menu and noticed the Tomahawk priced at an eye-watering £630. As I glanced at the menu, the prices made my jaw drop—£99 for a mere 99 grams of Japanese wagyu and £95 for spaghetti! What on earth does the spaghetti have in it? However, I was disappointed to learn that the set menu, prominently advertised outside, wasn’t offered right away. So if you’re planning for whatever reasons to visit Nusr-et’s Steakhouse then make sure you ask the staff for the lunch menu!
For my first course, I chose the sushi from the set menu, featuring strip loin, avocado cream, and crispy potato. The presentation was underwhelming, and as I took my first bite, I was surprised to find it rather bland. Despite the buzz surrounding Salt Bae, the flavours just didn’t deliver, making me wonder if I’d want to order sushi here again.
When the main course arrived, I was excited but found the fillet steak smaller than anticipated. While it was cooked beautifully and juicy, the portion size left me feeling short-changed. The roasted potato, however, was a highlight—perfectly creamy and well-seasoned, making it one of the best parts of my meal. I appreciated the steak’s quality, but the overall presentation and portion sizes felt underwhelming.
For dessert, I opted for the baklava, hoping to end my meal on a high note. Unfortunately, it was heavy and overly sweet, leaving me disappointed. I had hoped for a delightful finish, but the baklava fell flat and did not meet my expectations.
Reflecting on my experience, it felt more about being seen at the restaurant than truly enjoying the food. While the service was commendable and the setting lovely, the high prices and mixed quality left me unsatisfied. I’d recommend exploring other steakhouses in London, like Hawksmoor, Gaucho, or Goodman’s, where the food quality aligns better with the price. The final bill of £42.90 for the lunch set menu, plus a 10% service charge, I was incredibly happy to have saved a lot of money. Ultimately, I would rate Nusr-Et a 3.5 to 4 out of 10, with my higher marks going to the service. Let’s just say, I won’t be rushing back to such an overpriced establishment anytime soon!
Hmmm 4/10
