As I stepped into the restaurant, I was immediately struck by the lovely outdoor seating area, perfect for enjoying a meal while soaking up the vibrant surroundings. With its positive online reviews and competitively priced set menu, I couldn’t wait to experience what Tas had to offer.

Tas boasts a lunch set menu priced at just £14.50 for three courses, making it an incredible value for anyone seeking a delightful meal. I decided to order the calamari, moussaka, and a lokum dessert, alongside a lunch sharing platter for two, which features an impressive array of lamb and chicken sheesh, lamb ribs, chicken wings, lamb doner kebab, and a Bulgarian salad. The sharing platter costs £35, a steal compared to £46 for the same items in the evening.

The calamari, with its crisp coating, was a delightful start to the meal. Paired with the homemade tartar sauce and a hint of lemon, each bite was bursting with flavour. The moussaka was equally impressive, served hot with vibrant colours that spoke of its freshness and rich minty flavour, even if I had to shoo away a pesky fly that seemed equally interested in my meal. He’s going to have to start paying rent if he behaves like that with other diners!

The sharing platter was the true star of the show. Each piece of meat was juicy and tender, showcasing the expertise of the chef. The lamb was perfectly seasoned, with a herb crust that added depth to its flavour. The chicken wings and lamb doner kebab also stood out for their succulent textures and delicious coatings. Although I opted not to delve into the salad due to my uninvited fly companion, I couldn’t help but admire the vibrant colours and quality of the ingredients. I can honestly say that this was one of the nicest Turkish meals I’ve ever had. Every aspect of the food was well-cooked, rich in flavour, and truly satisfying. The service at Tas deserves a mention as well; it was exceptional. The staff were attentive and genuinely made me feel welcome, which added to the overall experience.

To round off my meal, I indulged in the dessert, which was refreshingly light and not overly sweet—a perfect way to end such a delightful dining experience.
