Marco Pierre White Restaurant

Reviewing MARCO PIERRE WHITE'S RESTAURANT!

Nestled within the striking Cube building, the restaurant boasts a spacious interior filled with pictures of the legendary chef himself and his famous protégé, Gordon Ramsay. As I walked in, I couldn’t help but admire the setting, even if the decor felt a bit dated.

My adventure began with the Colonel Mustard Scotch egg, priced at £8.95. It arrived beautifully presented, simple yet inviting. The crispy exterior was a delight, and as I took my first bite, the oozing yolk and moist meat completely won me over. The English mustard sauce added just the right amount of kick, elevating the dish. In fact, I’d say it rivalled the one I had at Neil Morrissey’s pub, even if it didn’t have the black pudding.

For my main course, I opted for the roasted rump of lamb, which set me back £26.95. The lamb was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy with a robust flavour that came from the seared fat. The choice of pink or well-done was a nice touch, although I wasn’t fond of the bowl presentation, which led to a minor spillage. The dish came with mint vinaigrette, petit pois, and other sides that complemented the lamb beautifully.

To round off my meal, I indulged in Mr. Coulson’s sticky toffee pudding, accompanied by vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce for £7.95. While it was undeniably sweet, the rich toffee sauce was an irresistible treat that I couldn’t resist finishing, thanks to the cooling vanilla ice cream. I savoured every bite, and despite the sweetness, it felt like a warm hug on a plate.

As I paid the bill, which totalled £44.25 including a service charge, I reflected on my time at the restaurant. The spaciousness and excellent service truly enhanced the experience. Yes, the prices were on the higher side, and I had some reservations about the extra £5 charge for window seating and the fact that I had to order potatoes separately. But the quality of the food and the chefs’ execution made it worth it.

In the end, I left with a sense of satisfaction, awarding the restaurant an 8 out of 10. My visit to Marco Pierre White’s restaurant was not just about the food; it was an experience that combined great service, delicious meals, and an atmosphere that made me feel like a worthwhile trip – however, I fundamentally disagree with the window charge.

I LOVED it! 8/10
