Shamrat
Reviewing AN INDIAN RESTAURANT at 11PM!
I decided to head to Shamrat Indian Restaurant late at night, This restaurant comes highly recommended in Kent, and I was eager to see if it lived up to its reputation. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with soft background music and the chatter of other diners creating a comforting vibe. It was the perfect setting to unwind after a long day. It’s nice to
I quickly settled in and ordered a pint of Cobra to refresh myself. I was thrilled to try the Shamrat special, a chicken dish flambéed in cognac, priced at £18.50. I paired it with a king prawn Balti for £20.50 and a plain naan. To balance out the meal, I also opted for Bhindi Bhaji, which I’d heard was a must-try.
When the food arrived, the aroma was simply divine. The presentation was beautiful, and I was instantly drawn to the vibrant colours on my plate. The Shamrat special chicken was cooked to perfection, with a delightful charring effect that hinted at the unique flavours to come. As I took my first bite, the rich combination of red wine and cognac danced on my palate. The spices were just right, creating a perfect balance of warmth and depth. I also loved the crunch from the onions and peppers, adding a nice texture to the dish.
The Bhindi Bhaji was another highlight, bursting with freshness and a strong garlic flavour that lingered beautifully. It was clear that the ingredients were top quality, and each bite brought a new layer of taste. Next, I dug into the king prawn Balti, which had a rustic tomato-based sauce that was rich and robust. The prawns were massive and succulent, holding their own against the bold flavours of the sauce. I enjoyed every mouthful, especially with the naan, which had a lovely colour and was perfect for dipping into the Balti.
As I savoured the meal, I felt genuinely satisfied with my choices. The total cost of £44 for two might seem steep, but the innovative dishes and exceptional cooking made it well worth it. I could see why Shamrat has such a loyal following. The combination of unique flavours, attentive service, and a relaxing atmosphere left a lasting impression on me.
I left the restaurant feeling happy and fulfilled, giving Shamrat a solid 9 out of 10. If you’re looking for a place that offers innovative Indian cuisine, I wholeheartedly recommend Shamrat.
I LOVED it! 9/10
