Tharavadu
The BEST RESTAURANT I've Ever Reviewed!
If you’re on the lookout for an extraordinary dining experience in Leeds, I highly recommend visiting Tharavadu, a remarkable curry house that has quickly become a favourite of mine. This charming restaurant focuses on southern Indian cuisine, setting it apart from the more common Indian offerings you might find elsewhere. As I made my way there, I felt a mix of excitement and anticipation, especially after hearing glowing recommendations about their food.
Upon entering Thravadu, I was immediately struck by its warm and inviting atmosphere. I loved the layout of the restaurant and the staff were incredibly attentive. The place was bustling with diners, a sure sign of its popularity, so I suggest booking in advance if you plan to visit. The menu was extensive, featuring a delightful array of dishes from Kerala, a region known for its rich culinary heritage. After much deliberation, I settled on the Kerala-style lamb chops (£21.75), Kerala Kozhi curry, plain rice, and a Kerala paratha (£3.75).
When the food arrived, it was beautifully presented. The lamb chops, tender and succulent, were drizzled with a rich, spicy sauce that was nothing short of divine. Each bite was an explosion of flavour, with the sauce expertly balancing heat and spice. The Kerala Kozhi curry was equally impressive, boasting a delightful blend of coconut that softened the spice. The light, non-thick consistency of the curry allowed the fresh spices to shine, and the chicken was moist and bursting with flavour.
The Kerala paratha was a revelation. Light and flaky, it complemented the spicy dishes perfectly, making each mouthful a delight. I also indulged in a dosa, which was thin and crisp, paired with an array of dips. I particularly enjoyed the lentil dip, which had a satisfying heat, and a vibrant green dip made with mint and coconut that added a refreshing kick.
As I savoured every bite, I couldn’t help but reflect on the incredible experience I was having. This meal truly stood out as one of the best I’ve ever had. Although the total cost for two came to over £55, every penny felt worth it. Tharavadu isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a journey through the unique flavours of southern India.
In closing, if you find yourself in Leeds, don’t miss the chance to dine at Tharavadu. I wholeheartedly encourage you to explore the wonders of southern Indian cuisine and immerse yourself in this fantastic culinary adventure. I’m also honoured to be listed on their menu as of recently, underneath their lamb chops!
