Terry’s Cafe – Again!

Reviewing TERRY'S CAFE - AGAIN!

I recently found myself back at Terry’s Cafe on Suffolk Street, a beloved London establishment that has been serving hearty breakfasts since 1982. After my initial review received some criticism, mostly because it was my first ever video and I was useless, I wanted to revisit this café to see if my previous praise was justified. I ordered the “blowout” fry-up for £14.00, which came piled high with scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, a juicy Cumberland sausage, bubble and squeak, and baked beans. I couldn’t resist adding a side of black pudding and fried bread, and of course, I washed it all down with a steaming mug of Rosie Lee.

As I stepped inside, the atmosphere was buzzing with energy, a testament to its popularity. The layout has been adjusted slightly since my last visit, and the bustling ambiance only added to the charm of the café. The menu boasted an impressive selection, from various fry-ups to delicious breakfast rolls and even smashed avocados. I also decided to try the Eggs Benedict for £12.50, hoping to sample another classic breakfast dish.

The moment my food arrived, I was struck by the vibrant presentation. The Eggs Benedict, adorned with perfectly poached eggs, was a sight to behold. I was particularly impressed by the creamy Hollandaise sauce, which was rich without being overwhelming. The Cumberland sausage was another highlight; its meaty texture and satisfying snap made each bite a delight. I found myself reminiscing about the care that must have gone into each dish, a quality I believe is rare in today’s dining scene.

While I loved the fried bread, I did find it slightly undercooked, which was a minor hiccup in an otherwise stellar meal. However, the overall quality of the breakfast was exceptional. The bacon had just the right amount of saltiness and sweetness, complementing the hearty bubble and squeak beautifully. I also thoroughly enjoyed the substantial portions; you certainly won’t leave here feeling hungry.

In comparing my experience to high-end establishments, including Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant, I genuinely believe Terry’s Cafe holds its own—if not surpasses them. The focus on fresh ingredients and the owner’s active involvement in the kitchen speaks volumes about the pride taken in every dish.

As I finished my meal, I couldn’t help but reflect on how satisfying this breakfast was, even pondering if I would need a jog later to burn off all that deliciousness. The café’s location near Borough Market makes it an ideal spot for breakfast before a day of exploring. My total bill came to £33.88, which included a 10% service charge—a small price to pay for such quality.

In conclusion, I stand by my initial perfect score for Terry’s Cafe. My revisited experience reaffirmed my love for this place, where the warmth of the food matches the inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, I wholeheartedly recommend paying a visit to this iconic café. You won’t regret it!

WOW! Top marks 10/10!
