Andy’s Greek Taverna
The BEST GREEK RESTAURANT I Have Ever Reviewed!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Andy’s, a charming Greek taverna nestled in north-west London, and I must say, it lived up to its glowing reputation. Family-owned since 1967, this restaurant is renowned for its home-made dishes, and I was eager to see if it could deliver a memorable dining experience.
As soon as I stepped inside, I was greeted by the traditional interior, adorned in lovely shades of white and blue that transport you straight to the Mediterranean. The warm atmosphere made me feel instantly at home. The menu is filled with a delightful array of cold and hot starters, and I decided to order the Corfu-style prawns (£8.50) and Andy’s special souvlaki (£14.95).
When the prawns arrived, I was immediately struck by their enticing aroma. They were beautifully presented, served alongside fresh bread. Each prawn was large, juicy, and perfectly grilled, seasoned with a vibrant mix of fresh tomato, chilli sauce, and crumbled feta. The combination of flavours was incredible; the sauce added a delightful kick that paired wonderfully with the sweetness of the prawns. I couldn’t help but give it a thumbs up!
Next came the main courses. I was excited to try Andy’s souvlaki special and the moussaka, and I wasn’t disappointed. The souvlaki featured tender lamb infused with a strong rosemary flavour, complemented by charcoal-grilled vegetables that brought out their natural sweetness. As for the moussaka (£14.95), it was a generous portion, rich in flavour with beautifully layered ingredients, all topped off with a standout béchamel sauce.
To round off my meal, I savoured the Greek salad that came with my order. It was a fresh mix of crisp vegetables topped with creamy feta and a delightful dressing of olive oil and herbs. The olives added a perfect touch, enhancing the overall experience.
As I reflected on my time at Andy’s, I was struck by the attention to detail from this family-owned restaurant. It was evident that they take pride in their food and service, and that made my visit all the more special. When the bill arrived, totalling £40.40 for my meal and coffee, I felt it was excellent value for the quality of food I had enjoyed.
Before leaving, I had to thank Ed, one of the staff members, for his knowledge and hospitality. It’s no surprise that I’m awarding Andy’s a perfect and my first ever 10-star rating. If you’re in Camden, I highly recommend paying a visit, especially on a Friday or Saturday night for a lively atmosphere. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
WOW! Top marks 10/10!
