The Grand by Concerto

Reviewing a FAMOUS EXPENSIVE LONDON CAFE!

On my birthday, I found myself excited to celebrate at “The Grand by Concerto” in Piccadilly Circus, a place known for its luxurious atmosphere and high prices. As I walked in, I couldn’t help but admire the elegant décor and beautiful outdoor seating area. Despite knowing I was about to splurge, I felt a tinge of apprehension about the menu prices.

The menu presented itself as quite unbalanced, with a full English breakfast priced at £14.95 and Eggs Florentine at £19. I decided to order the salt beef breakfast for £18.95 and French toast with strawberries and banana for dessert at £15.95. The prices of drinks were equally shocking, with a simple cup of Yorkshire tea costing £5. I felt like I was already being drawn into a trap of overpriced expectations – especially with the bizarre pricing on the menu.

When my salt beef breakfast arrived, I was taken aback by its presentation. The absence of sausages and the greasy look of the salt beef made me raise an eyebrow. Taking my first bite, disappointment washed over me; the beef was tough, lacking the tenderness I expected from such a pricey dish. The grease was everywhere—on the eggs, the plate, and the whole experience. It was becoming clear that this was not a good combination for a breakfast menu item.

Next came the French toast, which I hoped would redeem the meal. Unfortunately, it fell flat, with an excessive amount of golden syrup on one side and barely any on the other. The rich flavours, instead of being a delightful treat, became overwhelming. I found myself longing for the balance I had experienced during my previous visit to Gordon Ramsay’s, where I enjoyed a similar dish at a fraction of the price.

As I sat there, I couldn’t help but feel frustrated by the lack of value for money. The lavish surroundings felt almost like a façade, hiding the disappointing food quality. Despite the excellent service from the staff, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of being ripped off. The total bill of £45, including the service charge, left a sour taste in my mouth.

In conclusion, while “The Grand by Concerto” may dazzle with its luxurious appeal, the food simply does not match the high prices. My overall experience earned a disheartening score of 2.5 to 3 out of 10. I wouldn’t recommend visiting for breakfast; perhaps consider this place for a cake instead, if the prices were more reasonable. If you do find yourself there, I suggest skipping the salt beef breakfast and opting for something more traditional or just dessert. Here’s hoping your dining experiences are much more satisfying than mine!

Hmmm 2.5/10
