On a beautiful sunny day in Tamworth, I found myself eagerly visiting Spudman, a renowned jacket potato vendor that has become a favourite across the entirety of the United Kingdom due to his popularity on TikTok. The buzz around Spudman was hard to ignore, especially with so many people raving about his jacket potatoes. Thankfully, due to ongoing building works, I was greeted by a rare sight: no long queues!

As I placed my order, I couldn’t help but admire the variety of options available. I decided to go for three jacket potatoes: chilli con carne with cheese, plain cheese, and chicken curry, each generously topped with butter, salt, and pepper. From queuing to taking the food away must have taken less than 2-3 minutes – now that’s fast food!

Finding a peaceful nook nearby, I set up my food for the review, the warm sunlight streaming down as I peeled away the outer layer of the jacket potatoes, I’m definitely getting a tan after this review. My first bite of the chilli con carne and cheese jacket potato was a very buttery explosion. The potato had a wonderfully crispy skin, and the gooey cheese melted beautifully over the rich, flavourful chilli. It struck the perfect balance—not too spicy, allowing the warmth and depth of the dish to shine through. Nothing too overpowering, I expect the Spudman hasn’t gone too heavy on his spiciness!

Next, I turned my attention to the cameraman’s potato, which was loaded with a generous portion of cheese. It was perfectly cooked, with a delightful balance of texture and flavour. I admired its substantial size but decided to resist the temptation to taste it to keep my review unbiased.

Finally, I opened the chicken curry jacket potato, and my mouth watered at the sight. Topped with tender onions and filled with a home-made curry, the potato was a generous portion. The curry was packed with shredded chicken, peppers, and just the right amount of seasoning. I couldn’t believe how good it was, especially considering the value—it was even better without the extra cheese, making it an affordable treat.

As I reflected on my meal, I couldn’t help but rate Spudman an impressive 8.5 out of 10. The quality far exceeded that of typical fast food joints, and the value for money was commendable. If you ever find yourself in Tamworth, I highly recommend giving Spudman a try. It’s an experience that combines the joy of delicious food with the warmth of community, making it a must-visit.
