Phat Phuc

I Review PHAT PHUC!

We have a couple of comedians recommending me new restaurants. I’ve clearly gained some weight since starting the channel… I visited Phat Phuc Noodle Bar in Chelsea, a place known for its affordable yet authentic Vietnamese street food. As recommended by viewers, I tried a variety of dishes and was impressed with the quality and taste.

I started with the pork buns, priced at £6 for two. The buns were incredibly light and fluffy, with a sweet and savoury pork filling that balanced the softness of the bread. It’s a delicate, pillow-like bun that practically melts in your mouth, making it one of the highlights.

Next, I sampled the duck pancakes, also £6 for two. While they weren’t crispy like Chinese-style pancakes, the softness of the duck, paired with fresh cucumber and a flavourful sauce, worked well together. The dish offered a refreshing combination that wasn’t overly complex but still satisfying.

The prawn laksa, priced at £11, stole the show for me. The coconut curry broth was rich and vibrant, packed with just the right amount of spice. The large prawns were tender, and the overall flavour of the dish was bold yet balanced. It’s a standout choice, full of colour and taste, making it one of the must-try items.

I also tried the chicken pho, another £11 dish. While it wasn’t the most visually stunning option, the broth was clear and tasted… healthy which I’m not used to on the channel, with rice noodles and fresh herbs adding a light, healthy touch. Adding a bit of soy sauce enhanced the flavour, making it a comforting and wholesome meal.

With an entire meal costing about £34, the affordability is surprising, especially given its prime Chelsea location, an area known for it’s glamour. The ambiance is casual, with outdoor seating under a marquee, offering a no-frills, street-food vibe.

Phat Phuc Noodle Bar deserves a solid 9 out of 10 for its delicious, authentic Vietnamese food at reasonable prices. If you’re in the area and looking for a satisfying and flavourful meal, this spot is worth a visit.

I LOVED it! 9/10

Oh no, there are none! Why not suggest one?
  • Hi Gary,

I started watching your videos after seeing the Fallow review (I have that on my birthday list!) and your reviews are a joy. Entertaining, informative and honest. Very much a guide for foodies and non-foodies.

I live in North Wales and it would be great of you could do some reviews up here. In my nearest town, Ruthin, we have the good, the bad and the ugly. The good – Ruthin Castle: TAFARN Y DDRAIG is the low key bit and Small Plates (not expensive but the best in our town) , Leonardo’s for lunch, run by Andreas and Cerys, and the Farmers Arms (for cheap food); the bad – Number 11 and the Ugly – Jacques. You may disagree with my selection! I am a local shop keeper. Ruthin is a lovely medieval town and we could do with more coverage. The White Horse (https://www.whitehorserestaurant.co.uk/) is also lovely.

Would be great to see this not so glamourous but lovely part of Wales featured.

    Thanks

    Rachel
