The Farmer’s Dog
Reviewing JEREMY CLARKSON'S PUB!
I recently had the chance to visit Jeremy Clarkson’s new pub, “The Farmer’s Dog,” located near the charming town of Burford in the Cotswolds. This establishment, which cost a staggering £1 million to refurbish, has garnered quite a bit of attention, and I was eager to see what all the fuss was about. As I approached the pub, I was greeted by a large marquee that hinted at the pub’s lively atmosphere. The setting is picturesque, and I couldn’t help but admire the beautiful views as I walked up to the entrance.
Upon entering, I noticed how well-organised everything was. The ambience struck a lovely balance between rustic charm and modern comfort, featuring a stunning bar area and ample outdoor seating. It felt inviting, and I could see why it has drawn in so many visitors. Although the main menu was not available during my visit, I was pleased to find a snack menu to choose from. I ordered a bacon roll for £7.50 and a sausage roll for £6.50. While the prices may seem steep, the quality of the ingredients truly stood out. The bacon roll was hearty and satisfying, showcasing the pub’s commitment to using quality produce.
I also tried a pork pie priced at £4.50, which was juicy and flavourful, but I wish it had come with mustard to elevate the taste even further. I appreciated how the pub sources ingredients locally, supporting farmers and ensuring that the food is both fresh and sustainable. However, I left feeling slightly disappointed that I couldn’t sample the main menu, which I’ve heard great things about – however I suppose it gives me a reason to return next year.
To my delight, I also ordered the lamb shawarma and a burger, both priced at £14. The lamb shawarma was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour; it was tender and succulent, making every bite a pleasure. The burger, which I had previously enjoyed at Diddly Squat, was equally impressive. Although the prices are high, the quality of the food made it worth it.
The staff did an excellent job managing the crowds, ensuring that service was efficient despite the long queues. Overall, my experience at “The Farmer’s Dog” was quite enjoyable. The stunning scenery, excellent organisation, and impressive food quality earned the pub a solid score of 8.5 out of 10 from me. I highly recommend visiting, even if you have to wait in line. The tranquil setting and delicious food make it a worthwhile trip, and I look forward to returning soon to finally try the full menu!
I LOVED it! 8.5/10

Hi Gary, last December I stayed and dined at Ynyshir Restaurant with rooms in Wales. http://Www.ynyshir.co.uk. Gareth Ward.
Starting price for Dinner starts at! Wait for it £385 +vat. Plus 12.5% service charge. Now it’s 30 courses and not suitable for any dietary restrictions. It’s a hell if an experience with resident DJ and glitter ball. We’re in our late 60’s and we loved it. However, I was not paying the bill as my beautiful niece and husband took us as guests. Just thought if you want something different! Cheers liz
