Boulevard Bookshop & Thai Cafe
I've Never Eaten At A RESTAURANT Like This Ever!
This is something completely different! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Boulevard Books and Thai Cafe in Hastings, and let me tell you, it was an experience like no other! Nestled in a charming bookshop, this unique establishment combines a love for literature with authentic Thai cuisine, creating a delightful atmosphere that immediately draws you in.
As I walked through the door, the warm ambiance welcomed me, despite the rain outside. It felt like stepping into a world where you could indulge in delicious food while surrounded by the comforting presence of books. The restaurant has a quirky charm with a cash-only policy.
The menu caught my eye with its fantastic options, including a special offer for two courses at £20 or €25. I decided to start my meal with the chicken satay, followed by a Thai green curry and a spicy beef curry. The fact that I could bring my own wine for just a £2 corkage fee was a delightful bonus, not that I brought a bottle of wine. I was also able to pick up a copy of Rick Stein’s book whilst having a look through the menu!
When my chicken satay arrived, it looked like a picture on a plate. The juicy chicken was perfectly coated, and the peanut sauce was simply divine. I couldn’t help but admire the attention to detail—the gleaming cutlery, the aroma wafting from the dish, and the elegant presentation. I could already tell I was in for a treat!
Next up was the Thai green curry, and it did not disappoint. The rich, creamy sauce was bursting with flavour, and the balance of spices was just right. The beef curry was particularly noteworthy; it had a thick sauce that delivered a delayed spiciness, which added depth to each bite. The beef was tender, and I found myself enjoying the comforting embrace of its deep gravy.
As I savoured each dish, it became clear that the chef truly understands the art of balancing flavours. Every bite was a revelation, and I felt like I was experiencing authentic Thai cooking at its finest. The entire meal, including my starter and two mains, came to a reasonable £32, and I knew this was a place worth recommending.
Reflecting on my time at Boulevard Books and Thai Cafe, I was struck by the passion behind the food and the inviting atmosphere. It’s rare to find a restaurant that combines such high-quality cuisine with a unique setting like this. I wholeheartedly recommend you visit this charming spot for its authentic Thai flavours and relaxing environment. You won’t just enjoy a meal; you’ll create memories. I left with a full belly and a happy heart, already eager to return and explore more of the bookshop!
I LOVED it! 9/10
